How they rated

-

LUKASZ FABIANSKI

Beaten by the penalty but made one outstanding stop in the first half to deny Andros Townsend, and dealt with everything else that came his way in a typically assured display from the Poland international.

KYLE NAUGHTON

A better display from the right-back. Had his hands full with Wilfried Zaha but did just about enough to keep him in check with help from others and was more assertive going forward, linking well with Nathan Dyer during the final stages.

FEDERICO FERNANDEZ

Gave away the penalty as Ruben Loftus-Cheek cut inside him in the area, and had a couple of anxious moments that he rescued superbly by intelligently using his head to deal with danger after slipping.

ALFIE MAWSON

Hard to recall him putting a foot wrong all afternoon. Composed on the ball, and made a number of important clearances and interceptions. Will rue his inability to control when the ball fell his way in the Palace box early on.

MARTIN OLSSON

Like Naughton he had his hands full with Palace looking to utilise the speed of Zaha and Townsend in wide areas but stuck at the task and had some joy going forward himself although final ball was hit and miss.

SAM CLUCAS

Recalled with Leroy Fer and Ki Sung-yueng injured and put in plenty of graft, making two important interceptions in the first half as Palace looked set to free Zaha. Still a little sluggish in possession

ROQUE MESA

A solid outing for the Spaniard, showed some good touches on the ball, broke up play well and tried to push forward when given the chance as he tried to make things happen. Does get himself into trouble on occasions though.

TOM CARROLL

Is a man lacking confidence, no question, but you have to give credit that he does not go missing or hide during games. Is still a little uncertain and unsure of himself on the ball but there were some decent touches and he covered plenty of ground.

LUCIANO NARSINGH

Was a lively presence throughout, but the pity is that he so rarely produces when he gets into good situations. There was some excellent link play in advanced areas, and he set up Tammy Abraham for a big chance but needs to be more consistent and composed.

TAMMY ABRAHAM

Had a big chance and was denied by Julian Speroni, and fired one shot over but his hold-up play was not particularly good with Britton sending a number of instructions his way during the first half. A threat but needs to offer more to all-round game.
