KILLERS BROUGHT PUT BEHIND

T HESE are the men who have been jailed in Wales this year for murder or manslaught­er. They include a double killer jailed for the savage murders of a young couple in Cardiff city centre and a man found guilty of killing his daughter just two weeks after adopting her.

The following offenders were jailed:

ANDREW SAUNDERS

The “despicable” double killer was jailed for a minimum of 23 years for the “savage” murders of his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend in Cardiff’s Queen Street. The 21-year-old was jailed for life after he admitted stabbing ex-girlfriend Zoe Morgan and her new partner Lee Simmons to death.

MATTHEW SCULLY-HICKS

The father was jailed for life in November for killing his 18-monthold adopted daughter. The 31-yearold assaulted and abused toddler Elsie over seven months before he violently shook her to death.

He sat emotionles­s in the court as judge Mrs Justice Nicola Davies sentenced him to life with a minimum of 18 years.

DYLAN HARRIES

The 22-year-old was told he will spend at least 27 years in prison for brutally murdering his partner in front of her young daughter. Harries slashed Katrina Evemy’s throat, and stabbed her in the eyes, in the abdomen – cutting her liver – and the leg and back as well as biting her on the arm during the vicious assault.

JORDAN MATTHEWS

The pub chef was jailed for a minimum of 18 years for beating his girlfriend to death.

The 24-year-old was found guilty by a jury following a two-week trial of beating his partner Xixi Bi to death at their flat in Ely Road in Llandaff, Cardiff, on August 19 last year.

KIERAN DAVIES

The 28-year-old, from Barry, was sentenced to life imprisonme­nt with a minimum of 19 years after being convicted of murdering his best friend.

DEAN CODY MATTHEW SCULLY-HICKS

Cody, 31, was sentenced to a minimum of 21 years at Caernarfon Crown Court for the murder of David James Kingsbury in Colwyn Bay in January this year.

Sentencing judge Mr Justice Griffith-Williams said he was satisfied he had intended to beat Mr Kingsbury up and his use of a knife was not selfdefenc­e.

JAMES DAVIES, ANTHONY BAINES, MARK ENNIS AND JAKE MELIA

The four were jailed for a total of more than 78 years for their part in the murder of Mark Mason in a

revenge attack.

He was stabbed to death in the Home Bargains car park in Rhyl in October.

A trial at Mold Crown Court had heard how Mr Mason was killed as part of a drug “turf war” in the town.

RICHARD WALLIS

The murderer was jailed for life in September for kicking a “kind and honest” man to death as he lay defenceles­s on a street at night.

Richard Wallis, 43, had denied murdering Jan Jedrzejews­ki but was found guilty by a unanimous jury verdict following a two-month trial at
