THE battle for the all-important sixth spot in the JD Welsh Premier League as the table splits into two will go all the way to the wire next Saturday.

Barry Town who had occupied that position before yesterday failed to improve their situation when they crashed to a 3-0 defeat at Connahs Quay yesterday.

Now Barry are out of the top six with Cefn Druids in pole position and Llandudno still in the mix.

The Druids meet Llandudno next weekend which means that Barry must beat Bala to stand a chance of being in sixth place.

Callum Morris,Michael Wilde and Declan Poole netted for Connahs Quay yesterday.

Cefn Druids helped their cause by adding to the woes of basement boys Carmarthen Town with a 1-0 triumph at Richmond Park.

James Davies netted for Druids on the stroke of half-time.

Llandudno also boosted their chances with a 1-1 draw at home to Bala.

The seasiders took the lead on 21 minutes through Marc Williams and John Disney bagged the equaliser a quarter of an hour from time.

Champions and leaders The New Saints returned to winning ways as they romped home 4-1 at Prestatyn Town.

On target for the Oswestry-based club were Wes Fletcher, Jon Routledge, Alex Darlington and Aeron Edwards with Oliver Buckley getting a late consolation goal for Prestatyn.

Bangor City kept within sight of the leaders with a 3-1 victory over Newtown, George Harry bagging a brace and Gary Taylor-Fletcher netting. Neil Mitchell scored for Newtown.
