HOLDERS Llanelli coasted into the semi-finals of the Nathaniel Car Sales League Cup yesterday as they continued to chase a notable league-cup double.

They proved far too strong for Llwydcoedm, running out convincing 5-1 winners with prolific marksman Lee Trundle again on the scoresheet.

But Jordan Follows stole the limelight as he bagged a stunning hat-trick with Trundle and James Loveridge getting the other goals. Ioan Evans was on target for Llwydcoed.

Port Talbot side Trefelin, who play in the third division of the league, also made it through with a 1-0 win over STM Sports in Cardiff, Jordan Edwards swooping for the only goal of the game in the first half.

Rhyl had led from the sixth minute when Alun Webb put them in front, but they would be denied all three points by Ramsey.

Caernarfon are now four points clear of Holywell Town – who themselves closed up with a 5-0 home victory over Ruthin.

All the goals came in the second half, while Holywell were inspired by Sam Jones’ hat-trick with Matt Harvey and Marc Gunther also netting.

Denbigh Town are a point further back in third after their thumping 6-1 triumph at Llandudno Junction – who remain bottom and winless.

Josh Davies, Gareth Partridge and Kristian Pierce all bagged braces for Denbigh – who also have a game in hand on the top two.
