YSTRAD RHONDDA went back to the top of One East Central with a 29-0 home victory over Llantrisan­t.

David Webb, Sam Berbillion, Jarrad Llewellyn and a penalty try were on the scoresheet for the hosts with Rhys Truelove also sending over two conversion­s and a penalty.

The win takes Ystrad a point above rivals Glamorgan Wanderers.

Shaun Higgins bagged himself a hat-trick as Abercarn won 34-19 win at Talywain in Two East. Jack Davies and Mark Curtis also bagged tries with Jason Evans adding the rest of their points from the tee.

In Two East Central Gilfach Goch jumped from fourth to second with a six-try 41-24 victory at lowly Llantwit Fardre.

Ricky Williams, Connor Morgan, Connor Davies, Michael Smallman, Liam Greening and a penalty try inspired the visitors while Davies also booted three conversion­s and a penalty.

Llantwit, though, did score four tries of their own to bag a bonus point with Ben Fry, Dan Williams, Rhys Jones and Luke Benjamin going over for them.

Scott Burrows kicked two conversion­s and the point gained saw them move off the bottom of the pile.

The moves Gilfach 11 points behind leaders Cilfynydd but, crucially, they do have four games in hand.

Another side closing in at the top were Taffs Well who beat Penygraig 14-9 in Three East Central A to move four points behind leaders Abercwmboi.

Chris Tottle scored what proved to be the only try of the match for the Wellmen with James Field also booting three penalties in what was their 10th victory in 13 league matches this season. Owain Davies replied with three kicks for Penygraig.

In Three West B, Burry Port moved up a place into second and are now just three points back on leaders Bynea after a crushing 60-12 win at bottom side Penygroes.

Andrew Francis’ treble led the way for Burry Port with Bryn Jenkins, Iwan Roberts, Matt Gower, Adam Davies, Matt Kathrens, Dylan Evans and Thomas Rees also going over. Ben Williams added the extra points. Crumlin beat Tredegar 24-12 in Three East C thanks to tries from Ethan Chess, Steele Jones, Kyle Walden and Iestyn Smith while Chess also kicked two conversion­s. Samuel Stradden scored twice in reply for Tredegar.

And in Three East D Bettws ran out narrow 8-5 winners at Pontllanfr­aith.

Captain Kirk Baldwin scored a try and also kicked a penalty for Bettws while Lee Butcher scored the Pontllanfr­aith try.
