CARMARTHEN Town’s hopes of beating the drop in the JD Welsh Premier League suffered a blow with a last-gasp 3-2 defeat at Llandundo in the Play-off Conference.

The Old Gold had earlier twice battled back after falling behind with goals from Liam Thomas and Dwayne Coultress cancelling out Danny Shaw and Matthew Williams efforts for Llandudno.

Aidan O’Kelly of Carmarthen was then sent off for a second yellow on 86 minutes and they were made to pay with Marc Williams’ netting a 90th minute winner for the Seasiders.

The result means Carmarthen are now eight points from safety with seven games to play.

That’s after third from bottom Aberystwyth Town edged a point further clear of them with a 1-1 draw at home with bottom side Prestatyn Town.

Damian Ketley opened the scoring after 20 minutes for Prestatyn, who had Zyaac Edwards sent off on 53 minutes – before Geoff Kellaway’s equaliser for Aber on 77. Prestatyn are 10 points from safety.

Elsewhere first half goals from Ryan Newman and Kayne McLaggon fired Barry Town United to a 2-1 victory at Newtown – with Gavin Chesterfield’s men now two points clear at the top of the Play-Off Conference. Nick Rushton got the Newtown goal.

In the Championship Conference, Bangor City moved up into second and above Connah’s Quay after defeating the Nomads 1-0.

A Kai Edwards own goal six minutes after half time was ultimately the difference between the two sides.

The Citizens are now above Connah’s Quay on goal difference and 12 points behind leaders The New Saints – with the champions not in league action.

The other top tier game saw Cefn Druids record a 3-1 victory at Cardiff Met. Alec Mudimu scored twice for the Druids with Neil Ashton also netting. Chris Baker scored for Met but was sent off in stoppage time.
