HANNAH TURTLE The mother was jailed for murdering her eight-week-old son by suffocatin­g him and poisoning him with anti-depressant.

Turtle, from Shotton in Flintshire, had denied murdering her baby son James Hughes but changed her plea to guilty during the trial. BARRY ROGERS AND PENNY JOHN The mother and son were jailed for life for the murder of his grandmothe­r Betty Guy.

The court heard they were acting on the “misguided belief the murder was an act of mercy”. It was described as a “despicable act”. DARREN OSBORNE Finsbury Park mosque murderer Darren Osborne was sentenced to life imprisonme­nt at the start of February.

The Cardiff man was found guilty of murder and attempted murder after just one hour of jury deliberati­ons.

He will serve a minimum term of 43 years behind bars. AARON BINGHAM AND NICHOLAS SALEH Teenager Aaron Bingham was convicted of murdering a father of two while co-defendant Nicholas Saleh was found guilty of manslaught­er.

Sean Kelly “staggered” away after a knife was plunged at least 5cm into his left leg in an early-hours attack which saw him collapse in a Cardiff street. ANTONY GUY The father raped a foreign student as she walked home in what was described as “the stuff of nightmares”.

Antony Guy was walking towards the subway under Boulevard de Nantes in Cardiff when he saw the woman crossing The Kingsway.

He changed direction and followed her before raping and sexually assaulting her. MARK AIZLEWOOD AND PAUL SUGRUE The two ex-profession­al footballer­s were sentenced for scamming £5m from schools and colleges through a bogus sports leadership scheme.

Aizlewood, who played for Cardiff City and Wales, was sentenced to six years and Sugrue was sentenced to seven years in prison. JOHN BODYCOMBE The “monster” uncle abused his position of trust to sexually abuse his niece and nephews when they were young children.

Paedophile John Bodycombe was in his 20s when he abused the trio when they were as young as two, a court heard. GARETH GEORGE EDWARDS The attacker was caught on camera carrying out a prolonged and brutal attack on his victim in Carmarthen town centre.

The victim was repeatedly punched in the attack, which went on for several minutes, and stabbed in the mouth with a vodka bottle. NICHOLAS DARKES The drink-driver ran away from the scene of a late-night crash that killed his friend and injured his father. The 26-year-old was two and a half times over the legal limit when he lost control of his car near Maesteg after he had been drinking at a hotel.

He was jailed and disqualifi­ed from driving. RYAN SULLIVAN The holidaymak­er was caught with dozens of weapons including knuckle dusters, stun guns and a set of nunchucks in his luggage at Cardiff Airport.

He was returning from a family holiday to a seaside resort in Bulgaria when he was stopped at security and found to have the prohibited items in his suitcase. KENYON REID The drug dealer was caught by police with cannabis in his underpants after acting suspicious­ly in a hire car in Cardiff.

Reid said he started dealing on the streets because he wanted to earn money to provide for his daughter. NATHAN MADDOCK The dad-of-two made more than £430,000 worth of anabolic steroids in an undergroun­d laboratory and used the proceeds to buy properties abroad.

Computer scientist Nathan Maddock, 40, from Pontypridd, was found to have assets including an apartment in Bulgaria, a house in Turkey and a number of rental properties in Porth. DRUGS GANG The crime gang which included a student were jailed after planning to sell cocaine and heroin and “bring misery to the streets of Cardiff”.

South Wales Police recovered three knives as they arrested Mahamood Hassan, Omar Diakite, Ayanle Ibrahim, Abdirahama­n Hussein and Joseph Khan. STEFAN ROSS The drug dealer was caught with cannabis worth more than £2,500 in his car after acting suspicious­ly outside a pub.

Stefan Ross, 25, from Caerphilly, told police he started dealing after losing his job but they found evidence he had been dealing for much longer. STEPHEN LAZENBY The blundering burglar was caught by police after leaving his provisiona­l driving licence at the scene of a crime.

Stephen Lazenby, 36, also left a holdall containing his wallet and phone at the scene of the burglary in Cardiff. SIMON BRITTON The paedophile asked a chatroom user he believed to be 14 to send him photograph­s of herself and arranged to meet her in a park.

Britton, 50, from Barry, compliment­ed the “girl” on her profile picture and continued to chat to her despite being told she was a child. DR MATTHEW FALDER The university academic placed secret cameras at a house in Wales so he could film people undressing.

Dr Matthew Falder was part of a paedophile subculture called “hurt- core”, described as “the worst of the worst”.

He was jailed for 32 years. LEE BATEMAN The paedophile posed online as a teenager and asked a 12-year-old schoolgirl if she had any sexy underwear and pressured her to perform a sexual act.

Bateman, 23, from Barry, used photo sharing app Instagram to send sexually explicit messages to the child before being caught by an undercover police officer. CHRISTOPHE­R LEE COBB The 46-year-old was jailed for a decade after being found guilty of rape, sexual assault and possessing extreme pornograph­ic images.

Christophe­r Lee Cobb, from Church Village, was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court after pleading not guilty to four counts. JONATHAN DAVIES AND SADIE HOYLE The couple were locked up for sneaking into homes while people were sleeping and stealing handbags, purses and bank cards.

They burgled three homes in one night, a court heard. MARLON GREEN The Cardiff-based drug dealer boasted of selling “the biggest and best” and ran a delivery service for heroin and crack cocaine.

Green, 36, from Adamsdown, offered his clients a service where they could meet him to collect the Class A drugs or he would make arrangemen­ts to drop them off.
