AN investigation is still under way after a man was killed at a building project of rugby star Xavier Rush. The Former All Black and Cardiff Blues captain runs a firm called X-Stream Properties, which renovates old buildings.

The health and safety executive said David Andrew White died after he was “struck by an overturning vehicle” on October 3, 2016.

The 34-year-old was working at West Aberthaw Barns, in the Vale of Glamorgan, which X-Stream were overhauling.

Mr Rush said that Mr White was being employed by a contractor and that it was being treated as a very serious matter.

He said: “David was contracted or employed by the principle contractor, absolutely nothing to do with me.”

The project saw West Aberthaw Barns transformed into a state-ofthe-art property.

It has since been acquired by Orbis Education and Care, for the residence of autistic adults.

Mr White, from Barry, was a selfemployed contractor working for a now-dissolved company called Pro’Conn at the time of the accident.

Kevin George March, from Cardiff, was a director of the business and said Mr White was popular and sociable and devoted to his children.

“I cannot speculate on what happened,” he said.

“The police are involved so there are issues there.

“He was a good guy and his funeral was well attended. He was a Barry boy from what I can gather.

“He was a good all-around guy who cared a lot for his kids.”

At the time of his death, friends paid tribute to him on the website of Co-op Funeralcare.

Zoe Mill, from Barry, was “devastated” to hear the news.

“I’m going to miss you so much,” she said.

“We’ve had so many laughs over the years.”

Chris Williams, of Rhoose, said: “It doesn’t matter how long it has been since we last talked. Still shocked, mate, can’t believe what has happened. Rest easy RIP.”

William John said Mr White would be “never be forgotten.”

“God bless you David,” said old school mate Sadie Andriola.

South Wales Police said no arrests were made and the investigation was passed on to the Health and Safety Executive.

A spokeswoman said: “HSE is aware of the incident and it is still subject to an ongoing investigation.”

An inquest was opened into Mr White’s death at Cardiff Coroner’s Court on October 10, 2016.

It is expected to resume on June 25 and take a week to conclude.

Mr White’s family could not be reached for comment.
