FOOTBALL ROUND-UP

-

LLANELLI were last night crowned champions of the Nathaniel Car Sales Welsh League when they swept to a 3-1 victory at Port Talbot Town.

They will be promoted into the Welsh Premier League if their appeal against the refusal of the Football Association of Wales to grant them a domestic licence is upheld – that hearing is scheduled for Thursday.

Goals by James Loveridge, the prolific Lee Trundle and Jordan Follows gave them their success at Port Talbot for whom Chris Keane netted.

The title was theirs when Haverfordwest County, the only side capable of catching them, were surprisingly beaten 3-2 at Monmouth.

For Monmouth, Mitch Palmer, Brad Flay and Rod Lewis scored, while both the West Walians’ goals came from Steff Williams.

Penybont ended their season on a high note, winning 2-1 at Afan Lido and they could still finish in runners-up spot.

Marcus Griffiths from the penalty spot and Nathan Renfree netted for the Bridgend outfit, while Josh Webber got a late consolation goal for Lido.

David Thomas swooped in injury time to give Cambrian and Clydach a 2-1 success at Briton Ferry Llansawel.

Ammanford moved closer promotion from the second division when they overcame winless Porth 4-2.

Matthew Fisher converted two penalties for Ammanford, while his brother Rhys was also on target and Jake Hammond netted as well.
