COWBRIDGE racked up their fifth South Wales Cricket Associatio­n Division One victory of the season with an 82-run home victory over Llandysul.

Cowbridge, who won the toss and elected to bat, registered a score of 261-7 from their 50 overs.

Tom Merilaht put together a score of 104 with visiting bowler Andrew Edwards taking 3-48 with the ball.

In response Llandysul fell short of their victory target with a score of 179 all out from 44 overs.

Andrew Edwards registered a score of 70 but the Llandysul effort was dented by Brad Evans and Nick Wood, who took three wickets each to seal victory for the home side.

Dafen Welfare continued their fine start to the season with a 182-run win over Maesteg Celtic.

The hosts won the toss and elected to bat, posting a formidable 317-2 from their 50 overs with openers Matthew Evans and Nicky Davies doing the damage with scores of 116 not out and 117 respective­ly.

In response Maesteg Celtic never threatened to overhaul Dafen’s total as they were bowled out for 135 with Gethin Long taking 2-7 as the West Wales side romped to victory.

Aberdare claimed just their second victory of the season with a comfortabl­e 106-run victory at home to winless Merthyr Tydfil.

The home side won the toss and elected to bat, posting 174 all out.

Luke Garthwaite top-scored for the hosts with a score of 45 with Daniel Thomas taking 5-26 for the visitors.

In response Merthyr Tydfil could muster a score of just 68 with Nathan Spain registerin­g figures of 5-26 as Aberdare eased to victory.

Gowerton registered a tense eightrun victory away to Swansea Civil Service to continue their steady start to the season.

The visitors, who won the toss and elected to bat, posted a score of 145 all out from 47 overs.

In response Swansea Civil Service fell just short of their target, posting a score of 137 all out from 49.1 overs with Matt Mason taking 2-16 as the visitors edged home.

In Division Two, Briton Ferry registered a 114-run at home to Cimla.

The home side won the toss and elected to bat, posting a formidable 208-4. Opener Lloyd Clement was the star of the show with a score of 100 not out as Cimla struggled to contain the hosts.

In response the visitors failed to reach triple figures with a score of 94 all out ensuring a routine win for Briton Ferry.
