USK look to have rediscovered the winning formula in Division One of the Thomas Carroll South East Wales Cricket League after beating Brecon by 20 runs to claim back-to-back victories – having lost their previous five.

Hywel Rose hit a half-century (50) as Usk posted 203-6 after being put in to bat.

In reply, Gethin Phillips (62) and Andy MacDonald (47) looked set to hand Brecon their third victory of the season but bowlers Ben Jones (4-36) and George Lewis (3-21) helped bowl them out on 183, which saw Usk move off the foot of the table.

Elsewhere, Ross Lewis inspired Sudbrook to an eight-wicket victory over Pontypridd with a superb batting display in the second innings.

Ponty won the toss and chose to bat where they posted 156-8 off their allocation of 50 overs.

Gregory McKean led the way with 61 while Dean Wallace took 3-25.

But in reply Lewis boasted an unbeaten 79 while Scott O’Leary also added a half-century (51) to guide Sudbrook to 160-2.

Chepstow returned to winning ways with a comprehensive 137-run victory over newly promoted Cardiff Gymkhana.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Chepstow racked up the runs to complete their 50 overs on 210-8.

Gareth Ansell claimed 47 with Tyler Morgan-Huggett (30), Alyn Franklin (27) and Luke Watson (26) all contributing.

Shahid Khan was the pick of the bowlers (3-29).

Gymkhana then struggled with the bat in hand as they were bowled out on just 73 thanks to five-fors from Jason Dobbie (5-51) and Luke Watson (5-42).
