SOUTH EAST WALES

-

MISKIN Manor continue to lead the way in Division One of the Thomas Carroll South East Wales Cricket League after a five-wicket victory over Pentyrch.

Miskin won the toss and put Pentyrch in to bat where they were bowled out on 106.

Skipper Todd Wilcox led the way with 32 while Dominic Grossett bagged 21 but bowler Tom Lloyd stole the show with figures of 5-13.

In reply, George Harvey struck 65no to help Miskin knock off the runs and continue their bid to return to the South Wales Premier Cricket League at the first time of asking.

Elsewhere, Chepstow made it five wins from nine games with a routine five-wicket triumph over lowly Brecon.

Brecon would have wanted to make a statement after they lost the toss and were inserted but their turn with the bat lasted 27.3 overs before they were bowled out on just 69.

Andy MacDonald led the way with 21 while captain James Mitch- ell bagged 18 but a superb five-for from Lewis Jones (5-24) handed control to Chepstow.

And they cruised to victory with Carwyn James (35) and Ryan Scrivens (17) leading them to 71-5, despite the best efforts of MacDonald (3-7).

Elsewhere, Division Two champions Abergavenny bagged their fourth win of the campaign with a narrow five-run triumph over Pontypridd in a rain-affected clash at Ynysangharad Park.

The game was reduced to 25 overs and Aber managed to hit 126-9 with Dan Cooke (40) and William Glenn (35) both enjoying productive afternoons.

Lee Parry was the pick of the bowlers for Ponty with 3-22.

In reply, Ponty just missed out as they ran out of overs on 121-9.

Skipper Josh Waughington was four runs shy of a half-century (46) while Philip Bishop added 28.

David Clarke (4-14) and Sam Clarke (3-20) did their best to end Ponty’s batting but were thankful to the reduced allocation of overs in the end.
