SHOCK AT LITTER AFTER ED’S GIG

THE centre of Cardiff was left strewn with litter yesterday morning the day after tens of thousands of fans attended Ed Sheeran’s second gig in the Welsh capital.

While the flame-haired singer had charmed crowds on Friday night at the Principality Stadium, it seems the aftermath of the concert, as well as late-night revellers, left the Welsh capital looking a mess.

Lee McCabe, 46, from Llandaff North, Cardiff, said that litter was “literally every- where” when he walked down Que Queen Street just after 7am and he took a video to highligh light the issue. He said: “I was totally disg gusted. I was making my way to Cardiff Queen Street and walked at first down St Mary Street and almost immediately it hit me how bad it was. w “The litter was literally everywhere. “It wasn’t wa until I got on Queen Street th that I started filming. I have seen it after afte rugby internationals and I’ve never seen it so bad. Literally food waste everywhere.” He add added that although he saw council wo workers cleaning it up he felt more could coul have been done. “They do a great job clearing it up but I thin think they were maybe overwhelmed by the amount there was this morning, morni which probably caused the delay in getting it done.”

Leanne Jonathan, 43, was in Cardiff early on Saturday morning on her way to Cardiff Central station to see the Foo Fighters in London.

But after parking her car and walking along Queen Street just after 8am she came across the scene which made her feel “disgusted”.

“I was absolutely shocked,” she

said. “It’s not the seagulls and the bins are completely empty.

“There was nobody from the council in the area. There was, however, a council employee watering the hanging baskets on St Mary Street. “The smell is unbelievable. “What’s happened to the days of the street cleaners overnight? It make me feel disgusted and ashamed.”

Cardiff council was contacted for comment.

The scenes came in the middle of four-night run of shows in the city for Sheeran, left, the first musician to do so at the Cardiff venue.

On his opening night he told adoring fans he has a “deep love” for Wales. Sheeran is due to play his final night in Cardiff tonight.
