NEWBRIDGE emerged victorious in their crucial top-of-the-table encounter with Miskin Manor in Division One of the Thomas Carroll South East Wales Cricket League.

Last year’s runners-up trailed Miskin, who were relegated from the South Wales Premier Cricket League last season, by 13 points but closed the gap to just one with a three-wicket triumph.

Miskin racked up the runs, after winning the toss and electing to bat, with opening batsman Tom Robinson (69) steering them to 227-8.

But reliable captain James Morgan came through for Newbridge in the chase with an unbeaten 97, which in- HAVERFORDW­EST sent out a message to the rest of Division One in the Thomas Carroll Pembrokesh­ire League as they thrashed Burton by a mammoth 211 runs.

The leaders were in ruthless form as they posted 277-5 thanks to reliable batsman Simon Holliday’s 83.

Adam Jones (58) and Dai Davies (50) chipped in with half-centuries to add to the score. And Burton never threatened to catch them as they were bowled out on a mere 66 with Jones taking five wickets. cluded eight fours and three sixes, to help Newbridge reach 231-7 in 26.3 overs.

Chepstow, who are in the chasing pack, made up some ground as they claimed a 39-run victory over Croesyceil­iog.

David Bennett did most of the damage as he struck 86, off 86 balls, to guide Chepstow to 256-6.

Croesy put up a good fight in the chase with James Scarboroug­h leading the way with 39 but Lewys Jones impressed with the ball as he took 4-42 to bowl them out on 217.

Meanwhile, Tondu claimed their first win since May 19, with a narrow 17-run victory over Pontypridd at

Last year’s runners-up Cresselly kept pace with Haverfordw­est as they strolled to a 10-wicket victory over mid-table Llangwm.

Hosts Llangwm were bowled out on just 60 after winning the toss and opting to bat and it took Cresselly 18.1 overs to dismiss them.

The chase lasted just 6.1 overs with Cresselly knocking off the runs with ease.

At the other end of the table Kilgetty turned the form book upside down as they claimed a surprise seven- Bryn Road.

After winning the toss Tondu opted to bat and struck 171 before being bowled out. Skipper Scott Thornton hit 39 while Matthew Richards backed him up with 38 but three-wicket hauls from Josh Waughingto­n (3-21) and Lee Parry (3-27) saw them dismissed.

Waughingto­n then led the charge with the bat in hand as he notched 83 before being caught out by Elliot Rees, which saw Ponty’s threat fade.

Rees went on to claim 4-24 with Simon Crump bagging 3-33 as Ponty were skittled out on 154.

Elsewhere, Brecon (187-8) lost to newly promoted Cardiff Gymkhana (191-7) by three wickets. wicket victory over Lawrenny.

Brad McDermott-Jenkins whacked 36 as Lawrenny were bowled out on 167 with Ross Hardy and Jack Parkinson taking three wickets apiece.

Hardy then enjoyed good form with the bat in hand as he hit 40 with Kurtis Marsh posting 34 and Toby Poole boasting an unbeaten 45 to guide Kilgetty to their first victory at the 10th attempt.

Elsewhere, Neyland (246-6) claimed a winning draw against St Ishmaels (171-7).
