Wales rugby legend’s Tweet tells the world he’s a dad

-

WALES rugby legend Mike Phillips has announced the birth of his first child.

The former Wales rugby star took to social media to post a picture of his newborn son with the caption “My Boy”.

Phillips, 35, who won 94 caps for his country in an illustrious career, revealed in May that he was expecting a child with his wife.

At the time, he posted on Instagram: “Can’t wait to become a Dad. Happy anniversary to my wife. 1 fantastic year! #Babymoon.”

Since announcing the news on social media, the former Ospreys scrum-half has received scores of messages of congratulations from the rugby world, with British and Irish Lions and former Wales number nine David Bishop among them.

Phillips announced in May 2017 that he had got married – just a fortnight after retiring.

He revealed the news at the time again on social media – by posting an image of him and his mystery bride on Twitter with the simple caption “Mr and Mrs Phillips”.

It is understood the couple had a small family wedding in Paris, where Phillips had previously lived while playing for Racing 92.

Phillips began his career in Llanelli before joining Cardiff Blues in 2005, then joining up with the Ospreys in 2007 before heading to France and playing for Bayonne in 2011.
