QUEUING AT THE COYOTE

DOZENS of young women from all walks of life queued up yesterday to try to win a job at a Coyote Ugly bar in Swansea. The new bar, which will open on Wind Street on August 16 and feature a live performance from Goldie Lookin’ Chain, is based on the hit 2000 Hollywood film of the same name, in which the staff famously danced on the bar.

Among those trying their luck yesterday were Anna Tutton and her best friend Abbie Sutton, both 19 and from Port Talbot.

Anna, who has been involved in the Gower Young Actors’ Studio and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, said: “Me and Abbie both love acting and performing so thought we would give this a go. It is so unique, especially for Wind Street. It’s amazing. You can tell the people who work at the Cardiff one really enjoy it.”

“I’m a pretty confident person, I will do pretty much anything. I can make people have a good time.”

Abbie added: “The atmosphere here makes it different to all the other pubs. I’ve just finished my third year in college doing acting and dance. I’ve always wanted to perform.”

Nineteen-year-old Danielle Moore, of Port Tennant, is a college student studying catering and hospitality. “It’s about being able to get up and show people you’re confident enough and being able to make people smile,” she said.

“It would be a really fun job. My mum is pretty excited and my partner thinks it is an amazing idea.”

Paula Jones, of Penllergaer, is an avid fan of the film.

“It appealed to me because I’m from the age demographic when the film came out!” she said.

“I’m in my early 30s and absolutely loved the film. I travelled all the way to Mallorca to see the actual bar. I think for me I’ve always admired the girls. I would absolutely love the job.”

Steph Mallon, 32, of Brynhyfryd, went into the audition with a wealth of acting experience.

“I’ve been on stage all of my life, my dream when I was younger was to be in the West End,” she said.

“I’m currently in Neath Amateurs and have done over 30 musicals. I love dancing and have a tattoo ‘Dancing through life’. This job fits the bill.”

Sophie Bartlett, 20, is a student from Newport who is currently studying law at Swansea University.

She said: “I’ve got 11 years’ street dancing and pole-fitness experience.

“I’m always up to go out and I need to be out having fun.”
