HUWS GRAY ALLIANCE

-

JAMES Hooper left it late to ensure Airbus UK Broughton maintained their seven-point lead at the top of the Huws Gray Alliance with a 2-1 win at Porthmadog.

Asa Hamilton gave Airbus a half-time lead but parity was restored shortly before the hour mark through Dale Davies.

But just as if it looked like both teams would have to settle for a point, Hooper was on hand to fire into the net on 80 minutes to hand Airbus all three points.

Flint Town United and Llanrhaeadr were only separated by one goal with Damian Ketley’s 49th minute strike keeping Flint in second place.

Bangor City, who have played a game more than their rivals, sit third after a comfortable 3-0 win at Gresford Athletic. Sam Barnes opened the scoring in just the second minute and that set the tone for the rest of the game.

Steve Hewitt added a second shortly before the break with Robbie Parry sealing the win on 62 minutes. Adam Whitlock and Dean Seager were both on target as Conwy Borough beat Rhyl 2-0 while Ruthin Town claimed a 3-2 win at bottom club Prestatyn Town, but had to survive a late scare.

Tomos Williams, Matthew Evans and Llyr Morris put Ruthin 3-0 up heading into the final 20 minutes but two late strikes from Ian Griffiths and Matt Griffiths set up a grandstand finish, however, Ruthin held out for the victory.
