REIGNING champions The New Saints went back to the top of the JD Welsh Premier League yesterday – but they may only remain there for 24 hours.

They proved far too strong for Carmarthen Town at Richmond Park and ran out convincing 3-0 winners.

After a goalless first half TNS went on the rampage with goals from Jamie Mullen,Greg Draper and Kurtis Byrne who netted in injury time.

But in the big game of the weekend Connahs Quay nomads visit Cardiff Met University this afternoon and if they triumph they will return to the summit.

It will be a tough game for the Nomads as the students shocked TNS 4-1 last weekend.

Barry Town’s impressive run came to a halt as Newtown beat them 2-0 thanks to a brace by Joe Kenton.

Llanelli Town remain bottom of the table despite a spirited 2-1 win at Llandudno.

James Loveridge and prolific marksman Jordan Follows were on target for the Reds while Mike Pearson bagged the Llandudno goal.

Llanelli finished with 10 me after the late dismissal of Kurtis March.

Aberystwyt­h continue to struggle in the lower reaches of the table as they went down 1-0 at Cefn Druids,Jamie Davies bagging the winner.

Bala Town twice came from behind to snatch a point from a 2-2 draw at promoted Caernarfon Town.

For the Canaries Danny Brookwell scored both the goals while Chris Venables and Steve Tames netted for Bala.
