THREE teenagers were killed in a crash on a road in North Wales on Friday night. They have been named as 18-year-old John Michael Jones and 17-year-old Leon Rice, both from Ruthin, and 17-year-old Colin Hornsby from Droyslden in Greater Manchester.

All three were travelling in a Vauxhall Corsa which collided with a Vauxhall Antara on the Graig Road between Denbigh and Trefnant.

A 16-year-old boy, who was a passenger in the Corsa, was taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd and was then transferred to Liverpool’s Aintree Hospital with serious injuries.

A 19-year-old man is still being treated in Ysbyty Glan Clwyd for serious injuries, as is the 62-year-old passenger in the other vehicle.

The driver of the Antarra, a 68-yearold man, is being treated for minor injuries.

The family of Colin Hornsby issued a statement through North Wales Police, saying: “Colin was loved by all his family and friends. He loved life, music and his designer clothes. He will be missed by all his family and friends and our lives will never be the same again without him.”

Sergeant Leigh Evans of the Roads Policing Unit said a thorough investigation is ongoing, and the force’s thoughts were with all the victims’ families.

He added: “All are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers.

“We have spoken to a number of people who were present during the incident but we continue to appeal to anyone who we haven’t yet spoken with to get in touch.”

The crash happened at around 7.30pm on Friday. The road was closed for almost eight hours and reopened at around 3am yesterday.

All three families are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward or anyone who believes they have any dashcam footage of the incident itself or footage of the vehicles in the moments leading up to the incident.
