PENYBONT booked their place in the semi-finals of the Nathaniel Car Sales League Cup thanks to a 4-2 win at Port Talbot Town.

It was a rearranged game after the tie was originally postponed last weekend and visitors Penybont – who currently lead the way in Welsh League Division One – looked to be all but out of sight after just 16 minutes through Jaye Bowen, Curtis Hutson and Cullen Kinsella.

Dylan Thomas pulled one back from the penalty spot on 23 minutes and, nine minutes later, Morgan Thomas grabbed a second for the Steelmen.

That was the way it stayed until the 90th minute when Kane Owen grabbed a fourth Penybont goal and sent them into the last four alongside holders Trefelin, Penydarren and Ynysygerwn.

Penydarren had already booked their spot in the semis with a 3-2 win at STM Sports last Saturday but yesterday the tables were turned on them as STM went to Penydarren and won 2-1 to reach the semi-finals of the FAW Trophy.

Goals in each half from Lamin Conteh won it for STM with Josh Brogden scoring in between for Penydarren.

Welsh League Division Two side Pontardawe are also in the semi-finals of the FAW Trophy after they won 4-2 at Welsh National League Plas Madoc. Joining them in the semis are Bodedern Athletic, who won 1-0 at Llangefni and Cefn Albion, who triumphed 5-3 at Corwen.
