JD CYMRU SOUTH

-

HAVERFORDWEST County remain top of JD Cymru South after Jack Wilson’s 90th minute winner snatched a 3-2 victory over Pontypridd Town at New Bridge Meadow.

In a game that swung one way and then the other, Vaughan Fowler’s eighth minute opener gave Pontypridd the lead at the break.

Two goals in eight minutes around the hour mark from Ben Fawcett and then Miles Bradley saw the Bluebirds get their noses in front, only for James Bloom to level and grab what looked to be a valuable point for the visitors, who are battling down at the other end of the table.

Wilson, though, would have the final say for County who are two points clear of both Briton Ferry Llansawel and Swansea University.

Briton Ferry, who have played a game more than the other two, are second on goal difference. They won 3-1 at Ammanford thanks to two goals from Kieran Williams and a late effort from Tyler Brock, Brett Enoch replied for Ammanford. First-half goals from Adam Orme, Oliver Roberts – from the penalty spot – and Ian Wilson set the university side on their way to a 3-2 home win over Taffs Well.

Jordan Carey scored twice in reply for the Wellmen in the second half but they remain in the bottom three.

Bottom side Caerau Ely remain without a win and it’s now 14 games and counting. They have taken just two points so far and returned from Afan Lido following a 2-1 defeat.

Liam McCreesh’s goal on 70 minutes proved decisive after James Parry’s first half opener for Lido had been cancelled out by Ben Vincent.

STM Sports, in fourth, are six points behind Haverfordwest with a game in hand.

STM, who also have a Nathaniel MG Cup final date with Connah’s Quay Nomads to look forward to in the new year, were 3-0 home winners over Llantwit Major.

Calum Bateman’s penalty on the stroke of half time put them in front with second half goals from Chris Hajgato and Josh Graham making sure of maximum points.

Llanelli Town lost some more ground on the leaders after they threw away a 2-0 lead at home against Goytre United, with that game eventually finishing 2-2.

The Reds looked on their way to victory thanks to Liam Samuel and Kyle Copp but, after Liam Griffiths pulled one back two minutes from time, an own goal at the death from Scott Coughlin meant they had to settle for a point.

Elsewhere Cambrian & Clydach Vale won 2-1 against Undy Athletic with Leon Jacka, from the penalty spot, and Liam Reed grabbing the goals. James Barnes replied for Undy.

The game between Cwmbran Celtic and Cwmamman United was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
