Wales On Sunday

How they rated

-

FREDDIE WOODMAN

Helpless with the opener, but was impressive in the air when asked to claim crosses and long balls into the box. Very composed in the final stages as Wigan pushed for a leveller.

CONNOR ROBERTS

Was able to get forward on numerous occasions and should have had an assist after picking out Conor Gallagher in the box on 30 minutes. However, his attacking approach often left space in defence, with Wigan enjoying plenty of success on his flank in the opening half

.

BEN CABANGO

Impressed when it came to dealing with the aerial balls that came his way. Passing was a little off at times, although it was an assured display from the Welshman.

BEN WILMOT

Another impressive shift from the central defender who coped brilliantly with the aerial threat of The Latics and was typically comfortable on the ball too. Top performance.

KYLE NAUGHTON

Managed to get forward to support the likes of Celina and Gallagher while he was rarely troubled defensively in the first half. More of the same in the second half as well, in truth.

CONOR GALLAGHER

Making his debut for the club, the midfielder oozed class in the opening stages and got himself an assist for the opener. Created some wonderful opportunities for his team-mates and showed exactly why Steve Cooper was so keen to sign him.

MATT GRIMES

A few stray passes aside, it was a very assured display from the captain once again. Had so many options with the likes of Gallagher, Ayew and Celina making runs ahead of him.

ANDRE AYEW

Some neat link-up play in the first half, but it was after the restart where the attacker really showed his worth with some wonderful touches and vital hold-up play. Wonderful flicked finish to put his side ahead with what was his 12th goal of the campaign in all competitions.

GEORGE BYERS

Enjoyed himself as Swansea looked far more threatening with a very slick front six. Wasted a chance in the first half but more than contributed to a fine win. Subbed late on.

RHIAN BREWSTER

On his first home appearance for the Swans, Brewster coolly slotted beyond David Marshall to register his first goal for the club after 19 minutes. Work rate was simply tremendous and had chances to add to his tally, but what a home debut it was. Subbed to a standing ovation.
