MORE THAN 600 NEW CASES OF VIRUS CONFIRMED
MORE than 600 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed, according to the latest statistics released yesterday afternoon.
The 627 new cases puts the total since the outbreak began at 29,654. As a result of the latest figures, the overall infection rate remains at more than 100 cases per 100,000 population for the second day in a row. The rate was 102.9 on Friday, while yesterday it stood at 108.8.
These are the key details in the latest figures released yesterday:

Total deaths with lab-confirmed coronavirus in Wales: 1,667
Cardiff reported the highest number of new cases in yesterday’s data (which is correct up to Friday afternoon) with 79, followed by Rhondda Cynon
Taf with 66, Swansea with 44, Flintshire with 38, Caerphilly 35 Merthyr Tydfil 33, and Conwy and Wrexham with 28 each.
Other counties which reported new cases in double figures include Carmarthenshire with 22, Bridgend with 20, Blaenau Gwent with 18, Neath Port Talbot with 16, Newport with 15, Denbighshire with 17, and Gwynedd with 12.
Six new cases were reported in Torfaen and Monmouthshire, nine in Anglesey, eight in the Vale of Glamorgan, five in Pembrokeshire, three in Ceredigion, and nine in Powys. There were 109 cases from people outside Wales included in the figures, which Public Health Wales said referred to mainly to young people with Welsh addresses currently living outside Wales.
