WHEN John and Laura Lewis decided to build a dream structure on their land they certainly branched out in style – by building a high-end luxury treehouse.

And now the Prince Llywelyn treehouse, built in just six months by the couple, boasts incredible interiors that could easily grace the pages of a glossy magazine.

Wrapped around a majestic tree on their Powys property, there’s a veranda boasting a hot tub while inside is free-standing, brass bath that would not look out of place in a five-star boutique hotel.

Laura says: “I love the brass bath. I was adamant I wanted a ‘wow’ bath for the new treehouse. I searched all over the internet searching for the perfect one. I didn’t really know what I was looking for to be honest – I just knew when I found it, and fell in love.

“When you’re in it, you can also see the stream which runs underneath the treehouse. It looks like a little waterfall.”

Inside, the surprisingly spacious house in the air – which sleeps seven – offers a trendy kitchen diner that has mesmerising views to the Radnor Forest on the horizon.

This is the third treehouse the creative couple have built.

John says: “The treehouse is the size of a small house, about 56 square metres and 13 metres off the floor, so it was our biggest and most exciting challenge yet.

“At first we wanted something futuristic, and the original design we had with our architect was quite out there. But when he sent us the drawing back, we knew it wasn’t right.

“We decided to go with something that looked more traditional, but with quirky standout features, like the brass bath, suspended hammock and the slide.”

The foundations of the treehouse are constructed from large steel frames which are built over the tree roots, with the decking, joists and floorboards added next.

Then, when the treehouse had a sound base, the build team could start erecting the actual structure including the walls, upstairs floor and roof.

Now the luxury treehouse is ready to welcome guests. If you’d like to soak in a hot tub with glorious rural vistas or a brass bath fit for royalty, the Prince Llywelyn, near Llanbister, some 15 miles from Llandrindod Wells, has just put out its welcome mat.
