AN INTREPID dog went on an adventure after sneaking out and boarding a bus when his owner’s back was turned.

And his travels to a popular beach spot only came to an end after his owner spotted his pet in a social media post.

Jake Channon was taking out the bins at his home in Rhuddlan, Denbighshire, on Tuesday when his sixyear old Staffordshire Bull Terrier called Rocco sneaked out of the house.

And, while his master wasn’t looking, Rocco then wandered onto an Arriva bus bound for the Rhyl seaside, several miles away.

It was only when he was scrolling through his Facebook feed a while later that Jake saw a post about a Staffie that had been spotted out and about, seemingly without its owner.

“I thought it was funny so I showed it to my girlfriend, saying, ‘That looks like Rocco,’” Jake said.

“But when I went looking for him I realised that it actually was my dog on the bus.”

Intrepid traveller Rocco had been befriended by fellow passenger Emma Parsonage, who said he casually got on the vehicle and took a seat.

“When I realised no-one was with him I took pictures of him and posted them on the Rhuddlan Today Facebook page to find out where he’d come from,” Emma said.

“The cheeky chap didn’t even pay his fare!

“I’m just glad he’s back safe with his owners.”

Jake, who adopted the adventurous Staffie when he was four months old, then had to drive to the bus depot to pick him up.

“Rocco’s very clever,” Jake said, adding that escape artistry is one of the dog’s many talents.

“He even knows how to undo a lead, so if I ever tie him up outside a shop he usually unties it and follows me in!”
