A“QUIET” grandfather-ofthree has been named by police as the victim of an alleged murder in Barry. Robert Farley, who was 61, was found dead at his home in West Walk, Barry at around 1am on Friday.

Detectives from South Wales Police are treating his death as a murder investigation.

In a tribute issued through the force on Saturday, his daughter Michele said: “Bobby was given the name ‘the quiet man’ by those who knew him.

“This portrays his personality well – he was a gentle, peaceful and loving man.

“Earlier in his life he was hardworking, very sociable, and wellliked by many.

“Bobby had his own battle with alcohol – he tried numerous times to overcome this, with support from his friends and family.

“He was a son, a brother, a father to Michele, and grandfather to three wonderful boys.

“Our hearts are filled with grief and sadness at the untimely death of our much-loved father, grandad, and friend.

“Our memories of my dad will live in our hearts forever of the vibrant, charismatic, fun-loving and kind man that graced our lives.”

On Friday, officers said a 53-yearold man had been arrested on suspicion of murder and was in custody. He remained in custody on Saturday afternoon, a force spokesman confirmed.

A forensics team was in place in West Walk and residents were told to expect a “considerable police presence” in the days ahead.

Officers were also later seen searching bins and shrubbery in Knap Gardens.

Detective superintendent Darren George, senior investigating officer, said: “I make a further appeal to the local community who may be able offer information in relation to any suspicious activity in and around the West Walk area of Barry, particularly between the evening of Monday, August 30, and the early of hours of Friday, September 3.

“No matter how insignificant you believe any information may be, please contact the major incident room. I would like to thank those in the community that have come forward with information so far.”
