Praise for star’s message on OCD

-

FRESH Meat star Kimberley Nixon has been praised for shining a light on her battle with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).

The actress, who was raised in Pontypridd, took to Instagram to talk about the disorder as she waited for her husband to return home.

The 36-year-old talked about how, with OCD, she is prone to “blips and dips” and talked about how she was currently experiencing a “blip”.

“Sometimes I look like that blip,” said the star who is also known for roles in Cranford and Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging.

“Other times I can look a bit more together on the outside and people will have no idea what’s going on. I was having that today.”

Kimberley went on to say that following the birth of her baby, she has “really got back into my postnatal theme”.

Perinatal OCD is when you experience OCD during pregnancy or in the first year after giving birth.

She emphasised that it is a “physical” and “visceral” experience to believe that there is danger around her child.

“Whilst I was in this setback, I thought it’d be interesting to talk about how frightening and how real it seems. It doesn’t matter that everything is OK, you’re still not able to stop checking,” Kimberley told her fans, who have all rallied behind her.

Commenting on Instagram, one fan wrote: “Thank you so much for showing light on how some of us feel.”

Meanwhile another said they wished they could “give [Kimberley] a big hug”.

@mrs.j.wilson praised Kimberley: “It makes me feel better to know I’m not alone in how I feel.”

The post, which gained a lot of traction, was full of people who shared their own struggles with OCD.
