Frills, frocks and performance artists captured by a rising star of photography at Battersea Arts Centre

Cape Town-born, London-based photographer Alice Mann scooped both the Grand Prix du Jury and the Wallpaper* New Generation Prize at this year’s Hyères International Festival of Fashion and Photography for her documentary portraits of South African drum majorettes. Here she hooks up with performance art group Stasis, who take to the floor in frills, frocks and florid hues

Our models, Aniela, Isabel and Paloma, founded Glasgow- and London-based performance art group Stasis, with Olivia Norris, in 2014. They have created dance pieces for galleries, clubs, theatres and films, and their work has appeared at the likes of the Irish Museum of Modern Art, the Glasgow International festival, The Place, London, and Marsèlleria, Milan

Shot on location at Battersea Arts Centre, London. The former town hall building, dating from 1893, has undergone a 12-year transformation by architects Haworth Tompkins.
