The Guernsey Heritage Festival returns for 2018, this year reflecting on the islands’ occupation by the Nazis during the Second World War and its liberation. The festival consists of six weeks of events, spread across four islands (Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and Herm). Some German forts will be opened for the first time, with guided walks, brewery tours, open-air cinema shows and even a Potato Peel Pie Society exhibition.

Restaurateur Russell Norman explains how learning the culinary traditions of Venice are the key to truly understanding the watery city. The event will raise funds for the Venice in Peril Fund, an organisation that donates money towards the restoration of the city’s monuments and buildings, helping protect them from threats such as water damage and rising lagoon levels.
