- Shane Fenton

Lothian Running Club will be hosting their annual Dechmont Law 10km Trail Race on Sunday.

Along with the main race, there will be a 3.5km trail race and a 2km fun run and anyone can enter up to 30 minutes before the start of the race.

The action begins at 10.45am with the fun run, with the 3.5km race starting 30 minutes later. The main event comes under starter’s orders at noon.

Nine members were in action at the Black Rock 5 Race at Kinghorn in Fife.

Lana Turnbull continued her recent fine form with an excellent third place in the women’s category. She broke the half-hour mark, covering the course in 29:44.

Malcolm Lang was the first blue vest runner home in 17th place. Ryan Ferguson (180th), Brian Reid (226th), Mike Lieberman ( 261st), Jim Alexander (303rd), Cara McCafferty ( 645th), Lucy Mathieson ( 40.11) and Jim Salvage (40.34) were the other LRC runners to complete the course.

While Lana finished third in Fife, she was able to take the title closer to home as she was the first female home in the Livingston parkrun on Saturday morning.

Her time of 19:54 also saw her finish fifth overall, the highest placing for a Lothian Running Club member.

Mhairi Inglis made it a club one-two as she finished second in the women’s category and 11th overall as she crossed the line in 20:35.

Running in a high-quality women’s 1500m race in Birmingham on Sunday, the Lothian club’s Sarah Inglis once again lowered her personal best for the distance.

The race, which was one of the supporting events at the IAAF Diamond League meeting at the Alexander Stadium, saw Sarah finish sixth in 4:12.58, shaving 0.41 seconds off her previous best, which was set almost exactly a year ago in Vancouver.
