Have your say in EU referendum
West Lothian people are being urged to have their say in the European Union referendum.
Polls open at 7am today (Thursday) and close at 10pm. Voters’ polling stations are indicated on their poll card, which they should take with them to vote if possible, although it is not essential.
More information on where to vote is available at www.westlothian.gov. uk/wheretovote.
In the referendum voters will be asked the question: Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union? The ballot paper should be marked with one X to indicate your choice.
Unlike the recent Scottish independence referendum and Scottish parliamentary elections, 16 and 17-year-olds will not be able to vote in the EU referendum. However, they will remain on the electoral register and be eligible to vote in future Scottish parliamentary and local government elections.
Anyone who has not received or has lost their polling card or is unsure if they are registered to vote or where to vote can contact the electoral registration office (ERO) on 0131 344 2500 or enquiries@lothian-vjb. gov.uk.
Anyone unable to make it to their polling station due to illness or work may be able to appoint an emergency proxy. Call 0131 344 2500 as soon as possible before 5pm today.
