Shoppers’ summer buys

- Debbie Hall

There was a definite buzz in the air at The Centre, Livingston, last week as shoppers began their big summer holiday countdown.

As visitors to The Centre were snapping up some fantastic last minute bargains and holiday essentials the Style Squad picked out six lucky shoppers to find out what was in their bag.

Each shopper was presented with a £25 Gift Card, which can be used in over 70 stores and all 20 restaurants.

And all six shoppers will appear on the Shop The Centre Facebook page today (Thursday) showcasing their purchases and the picture that receives the most likes over a 24 hours will receive another £100 Gift Card, courtesy of The Centre.

First up was Mercy Wallace (18), from Edinburgh who works at JD Sports

She said: “I’m heading off to Malia in a couple of weeks and needed new trainers.

“I love both of these Nike trainers and couldn’t make my mind up which ones to go for so ended up buying them both.”

Next was Vicki Hitchen (33), from Livingston, who had been shopping at River Island.

She said: “I’ve always liked bright colours and this looks and feels like the perfect summer top. I visit The Centre a lot and always manage to find something I really like. This will be great for not only my holidays but on nights out in the town too.”

Danielle Turner ( 22), from Dunfermline, who is a sales assistant at Tesco, told the Street Style team: “I love my H&M fitness shorts.

“I work out a lot and even more so as I countdown to my holiday in Magaluf.

“I often come here with my friends after work for a spot of shopping which they love doing as much as me.”

Li Zhang ( 26), works at iRuby Childrenswear in Livingston.

She was delighted with her bargains.

“I’ve been working all day and thought I’d check out the sales at Topshop and treat myself,” she said.

Adam Foulis ( 17), from Edinburgh, was at The Centre to pick up a new pair of trainers.

“I came to The Centre to get a pair of Vans for work and these were exactly what I was looking for,” he said.

“I work part-time in a bar in the centre of Edinburgh and these tie in with the uniform.

“Although, I’m sure I’ll wear them out of work too.”

Last up was Alyna Mirza ( 16), from Livingston, who was shopping with her mum but managed to treat herself at the same time.

She said: “My mum and I are having a lovely shopping evening at The Centre to celebrate her birthday.

“And although we are supposed to be shopping for her, this bag caught my eye and I ended buying if for myself.

“We’re now off to buy something nice for her, which is a great way to spend an evening together.”
