Derby delight for Fauldhouse

-

Fauldhouse Victoria scored a stunning derby day victory as they swept aside Livingston by eight wickets.

The visitors entered the game on the back of two straight victories, but were skittled all out for 64 at Eastfield Park.

Ricky McDonald and Steven Connell were the pick of the bowlers as the pair combined to take six wickets for just 20 runs in 11.4 overs.

A settled start for the hosts ensured only an epic collapse would see them slip to defeat and that never looked likely.

They sealed the victory with 15 overs to spare and for the loss of just two wickets. Mark Hilson top-scored with 24 as Vics climbed above their local rivals in the Division Two table with the win.

The news was better for Livingston’s Second XI, though, as they scored a six wicket victory over Falkland Third XI in Division Six.

Falkland were only able to score 96-9 from their 40 overs thanks to some economic bowling and great fielding from Livi.

In reply, a decent opening partnership laid the foundations for a comfortable six wicket win as they reached their goal in 27.5 overs.

Linlithgow’s First XI fixture was cancelled due to the weather, while the club’s reserves scored a nail-biting one run victory in a rain shortened match on Sunday at Boghall against Selkirk.

The visitors were dismissed for 94 with Adam Blumski in particularly fine fettle with figures of 8-5-7-4.

Linlithgow were sitting at 54-4 from 25.1 overs when play was stopped, but that gave them a narrow victory via the rain calculator.
