The church will be open between 2pm and 4pm every Sunday from May until the last Sunday in September. Tours are free of charge. It is an ideal opportunit­y for visitors to view the church and grounds on their own or take a guided tour and learn about the church and its history. Teas and coffees will be available. Choral Highlights Ladies’ Choir would like to invite ladies with a love of singing and music to come and join us. You don’t have to be able to read music. We are a well-establishe­d three part choir and have a membership of around 20 ladies. We sing a wide variety of songs including music from films and shows, spiritual, traditiona­l and popular ( pop!) music. ! The Choir perform two concerts annually, one just before Christmas and one in the summer accompanie­d by West Calder Brass Band. We also sing at venues across the region. On the social side, we meet a couple of times in the year for a nice meal and entertainm­ent. New Members always welcome, we practise twice a week in Kirk of Calder, Mid Calder - Sundays 11.45 am till 1 pm and Wednesdays 7.30 till 8,45pm . Please note that the Community Council does not meet in the months of July and August. Volunteer Drivers needed to assist older people in the Mid Calder and Livingston area to attend local groups in West Lothian. The Cyrenians Befreindin­g Service helps alleviate loneliness and isolation in older people. Befriendin­g is delivered by volunteers and we urgently need volunteer drivers who can spare a few hours a month. Mileage costs are reimbursed at 45p per mile. Fairtrade Cafe welcomes anyone who would like to join us on a Tuesday morning between 10am and 12 noon in the Glenalmond Hall where home baking is on sale and all funds raised go to street children of Peru c/o the Vine Trust. Come along and help us to promote fair trade and make new friends. The Fair Trade café is run by the Kirk of Calder. Clothing bank is situated to the front of the Glenalmond Hall. Please bring any good quality clean clothes, belts, paired shoes, ties, handbags (in a bag) and place in the recycling bank. Mid Calder School of Dance is a not-for-profit parent-run group with profession­al teachers which runs on Tuesday and Friday nights in the Institute Hall, Mid Calder. Domino Flyer is held every Sunday afternoon at 2.30pm in the Public Bar of the Black Bull. The winner receives a steak pie while 2nd place goes home with a mince round. Everyone is welcome. Mid Calder Mother And Baby Group meets in the Institute Hall, Market Street on Tuesday mornings from 10 am. Mid Calder Toddler Group meets in the Institute Hall, Market Street on Tuesday mornings from 9am to 11am
