Livi cruise to win after early setback

-

Livingston’s First XI bounced back from their demoralising derby defeat against Fauldhouse with a fourwicket victory against Second Division basement boys Westquarter and Redding.

The visitors batted first and scored a respectable 135-9 from their 40 overs, having recovered well from the loss of two early wickets.

In reply Livi started off well before losing three wickets for just 11 runs to sit at 38-3.

However, a series of solid partnerships took them over the line with relative ease with four wickets in hand.

The news was not so good for the club’s Second XI as they suffered a 12-run loss in their Sixth Division match away to Dunbar.

Batting first, the home side notched 157-8, which was a total just out of Livi’s reach as they were only able to score 145-9.

Linlithgow’s poor batting again haunted them as they suffered a four-run defeat in the First Division, despite bowling Musselburgh all out for 92.

Grant Raven was the pick of the bowlers, taking five wickets for just 17 runs.

But they collapsed to 88 all out from 44.2 overs as they fell to their sixth league defeat of the campaign.

The club’s second string outfit were forced to settle for a no result in their Third Division match-up against Carlton Third XI.

Cartlon were dismissed for 226 in 37 over but the rain fell heavily in between innings, with the visitors unable to bat.

The weather also put paid to Fauldhouse Victoria’s Second Division fixture away to Falkland Second XI without a ball being bowled.

Vics currently sit two places above Livingston in the Second Division table and will hope to build on their decent form this weekend.
