Rugby season fixtures announced

-

The fixtures for the 2016-17 season have been announced.

BT National League Division Three side Livingston begin their season on August 27 with a BT Cup First Round clash away to fellow Division Three side Greenock Wanderers.

Their league campaign opens on September 3 at home to Lasswade while Linlithgow Reds face an away trip to Dunbar in their East Region League One opener.

Those fixtures are followed the next week by the Reds’first home game, against Penicuik, and Livi making the trip to Royal High Corstorphine.

Other fixtures of note see Livingston make long trips to Orkney on October 29 and Inverness-based Highland RFC on March 4.

Their season is due to finish on April 1 with Perthshire visiting Almond Park.

Livingston will be hoping they can do better than last season when they narrowly avoided a second consecutive relegation.

Linlithgow Reds, whose promotion bid fell just shy last year, have a spell of five home fixtures in six during October and November.

They host North Berwick and Hawick Harlequins before a trip to Berwick is followed by the visits of Ross High, Forrester, and Dunbar to Mains Park.

Unfortunately, that run means they are at home for just two of their final eight games.

They end their campaign on March 25 away to Forrester.

Livingston will be fielding a reserve side in the East Region League Three with Linlithgow’s second-string outfit playing in the East Reserve League Division Two.
