Hannah storms to a Highland victory
Lothian Running Club youngsters victorious
Lothian Running Club’s Hannah and Erin Steel both had a successful day on their Highland Games debuts at Thornton in Fife on Saturday.
Hannah won the Youth’s 800m Handicap and finished a credible fourth place in the 1600m event.
In the shorter event, she was forced to battle all the way over the final 200m to hold off the challenge of Fife Athletic Club’s Hayley Brown to win in a time of 2:00.97.
Erin reached the final of both the Youth’s 90m and 200m Handicap races, finishing fifth and sixth respectively and she also grabbed fifth place in the 800m.
Elsewhere, a number of the club’s junior athletes were in action at Grangemouth Stadium in the third and final match of the 2016 Forth Valley League.
There were plenty of impressive results, including a win in the 200m for Brodie Wright and a number of top-three finishes for the club’s young athletes. Under-13 Boys: Race A: 4th Aiden McGinty (6:16.8). Long Jump Under-15 Girls: Event A: 4th Erin McComisky (3.71m), Event B: 3rd Erin Steel (3.51m). Shot Putt Under-13 Boys: Event A: Fraser Wright (5.00m), Event B: Aiden McGinty (3.03). Discus Under-13 Boys: Event A: 3rd Fraser Wright (7.91m). 4x100m Relay Boys: 3rd Ross Gillespie – Fraser Wright – Jack Hendry – Aiden McGinty.
