Tigers edge derby

-

The Border Roofing Monarchs were unable to cause an upset in front of the Sky cameras last week as they fell to a 51-39 defeat away to Glasgow Tigers.

Their chances of grabbing at least a losing bonus looked good as they trailed by just two points at 31-29 after ten heats.

However, the hosts got the better starts over the latter stages and eventually secured a comfortable win.

The two sides could barely be separated over the first 10 races, with Glasgow unable to extend their lead past four points at any stage.

However, they had the upper-hand throughout and eventually raced away with the win.

Edinburgh’s top performer with a brilliant 14 points was Ryan Fisher, who said:“I’ve got my engines how I want them to be now and I’m pretty confident for the rest of the season.

“With the line on the second bend out at the fence I was able to make good use of it. Everyone scored points but we just need to get a couple of our riders going a bit better and we will start getting the results.”

Sam Masters won his first two heats but was caught out in heat 11 when he moved early at the gate, which allowed the Tigers to take their second 5-1 of the night.

With only one match in the previous 18 days, the Monarchs can be pleased with their display, particularly in the early stages.
