Sibbald to help out Mitchell

-

West Calder United have appointed Gary Sibbald as first team coach to work alongside manager Greig Mitchell at the Hermand Park club.

Sibbald has little playing experience but does hold a UEFA B License and boss Mitchell called him the“obvious choice”for the position.

Mitchell commented:“At the end of last season we had a review and we all felt that we needed to bring in another coach and over the process of the last couple of months we felt that Gary was the obvious choice for the job.

“He’s committed and really driven to succeed. He comes from a different background in that he’s not really done much playing, but he’s open about that and is throwing himself into coaching.

“He’s got his UEFA B License and has a HND in sport coaching and he really buys into our thinking and our ideas at the club, so we’re delighted to have him on board and I’m looking forward to working with him.”

As for the preparations for the new season, Mitchell is confident his second year will see the club make real strides forward.

He said:“Things are going well and we’ve got a few new faces in, along with a few talented guys from our under-19 side making the step up.

“We’re certainly in a much better position this year than we were at the same time last season, so hopefully that bodes well.”
