-

residents in the springfield area of Linlithgow are being urged by police to remain vigilant following recent house break-ins.

In the past three weeks, three homes have been targeted at addresses in sheriffs park, Bailielands and Barons Hill.

Investigating officers are currently carrying out inquiries in an effort to trace the person or persons responsible and are appealing for information.

In particular, they are keen to trace two men who were seen acting suspiciously in the area of springfield road between 5.45pm and 7.30pm on Monday, June 27.

the first male is described as white, in his late teens, thin build, around five feet four tall and had short fair rough hair with a red tinge. He was seen wearing a navy blue hooded top, dark blue denim jeans, white baseball style boots with red round the bottom.

the second male is also white, aged between 25 and 29 years old, stocky build, around five feet five tall with dark short hair. He was wearing a dark bomber style jacket with blue denim jeans and possibly carrying a rucksack.

Both men were last seen walking in the direction of sheriffs park.

Community sergeant Kris Linejs, based in Livingston police station, said:“House break-ins can have a devastating impact on the victims as well as on the wider community and we are committed to arresting anyone involved in this crime.

“We have seen a recent spate in the number of domestic housebreakings in the Linlithgow area and I am today urging anyone who has relevant information or who noticed any suspicious behaviour to come forward immediately.

“Criminals are always looking for easy opportunities and I want to remind the public of the various measures that can be taken in order to protect your home from thieves. try and make it as difficult as possible for criminals to get into your home such as ensuring that the property is secured when you are out or at night. It’s also worth leaving lights on when you are not in the property .”
