More success for camera club

- Eddie Harbinson

Livingston Camera Club is celebrating another great year with over 80 members enjoying success in numerous competitions.

Four internal league competitions were held, comprising two digital and two print tournaments.

In the external competitions arena the club started the season by finishing 6th out of 20 camera clubs who entered the Scottish Photographic Federation Digital Championship Plate Competition

The club also retained the trophy for a third year in the annual inter-club friendly challenge against Mid Calder Camera Club.

This was followed by participation in the Scottish Photographic Federation Print Championship where the club did particularly well in the colour category.

Further success was enjoyed when Livingston Camera Club regained the trophy in the 12-Way Inter-Club Competition run by Midlothian Camera Club.

In April the club retained the West Lothian 4-Way Inter-Club trophy, challenged by Mid Calder, Linlithgow and Armadale camera clubs.

And the season ended by entry into the Scottish Photographic Federation’s 93rd Scottish Salon, where the club finished 9th out of the 15 Scottish teams that participated.

In addition, several of the club’s members gained salon acceptances which will contribute to them achieving accreditation with the esteemed Federation Internationale De l’Art Photographique.

Club President Susan Roberts said:“It has been a very good year for Livingston Camera Club, which is looking forward to welcoming new members at the start of its new season in early September.

“Individual achievements shouldn’t go unnoticed, in particular the club’s very own Peter Lawson of It’s Photographic, who achieved a gold award from the Scottish division of the British Institute of Professional Photography, the top award in the open category.”

The club’s annual exhibition is set to take place on August 20 and 21 with the new season beginning on Monday, September 5.
