Peter Pan flies into historic Hopetoun House

-

Family fairytale favourite‘Peter Pan’ is set to be staged in a special performance next month.

Chapterhouse Theatre Company are delighted to present a brand new show for this summer - the unforgettable story of Peter Pan the boy who wouldn’t grow up.

Join Wendy, Michael and John Darling on their adventures with Peter, far away on the magical island of Neverland.

There they encounter the enchanting mermaids, magical fairies and the cruellest pirate of them all, Captain Hook.

Presented by special arrangement with Samuel French and in support of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, J.M.Barrie’s timeless classic is brought to life in a brand new adaptation

by award winning writer Laura Turner, with original music and songs, and beautifully designed costumes.

Laura Turner said:“Peter Pan has been a favourite ever since I read it as a child and was first swept away to Neverland. I was entranced by it all - the mermaids, the Lost Boys and their fight with the pirates, Tiger Lily and her daring tribe of fearless warriors and of course, the thrilling spark of adventure between Peter and Wendy. I hope that in this adaptation we capture all the magic, wonder and heart of JM Barrie’s most beloved tale. After all, anyone can fly - if you truly believe.”

Director, Rebecca Gadsby, added: “Peter Pan has been an absolute joy to work on for few of us adults get the opportunity to delve into childishness and use our imagination. Spending days imagining pirate ships, crocodiles, fairies and mermaids has been a refreshing break from the usual historical research and character psychologies. For me, using your imagination is what Peter Pan is about; it is a celebration of youth. In our world full of immediate internet information, I worry that childhood is being lost earlier and earlier.

This show does not do all the work for the audience; adults and children alike will have to use their imagination to believe in the show. But that’s exactly how it should be in the theatre. But when they do; when they truly let go and believe in the show it will take them on a magical journey into the imagination.”

So come join Chapterhouse Theatre Company on a magical adventure that is sure to be one of the highlights of the summer.
