Findlay signs familiar faces for United

-

New Fauldhouse United manager Stephen Findlay has signed a host of familiar faces as he looks to build his squad.

The former Airdrieonians under-20 boss has agreed deals with eight players he coached during his time at the Lanarkshire club.

Goalkeeper Jonathan Grier, defender Ryan McSherry, midfielders Aiden Ward, Macauley Wilson, Andrew Gilchrist and Rhys Devlin, along with strikers Scott Sally and Kyle Richford, have all penned deals at Park View.

And they have been joined by former Hamilton Accies striker James Martin, while Gary Boness, Mark Cowan, Kyle Miller and Gary Fallon all agreed to stay at the club for a further year, with the latter being appointed club captain.

Mark Wilkins, Clark Campbell and Jamie Gallagher have also agreed to remain at the club.

Findlay admitted his previous knowledge and trust of the ex-Airdrie players was a key factor in getting them signed on at Fauldhouse as he prepares for his first season at the helm.

He said: “When you’ve worked with a team and a set of players you trust them and they trust you.

“It’s common in every level of the game for managers to sign guys they’ve coached before and this is no different.

“I’m delighted that they’ve bought into our ideas and that they want to play for Fauldhouse United.”

He added: “There is a new playing squad and a new management team but there’s an understanding with a lot of the guys about what we want and how we want to play and the new signings have all bought into that.

“Now it’s just a case of getting those players to gel with everyone else but that’s a process that every other club will be going through at the minute and I’ve no doubt we’ll be ready come the first game of the season.”

United begin their pre-season this Saturday when they travel to West Region outfit Largs Thistle.
