Pumphy win streak goes on

-

Pumpherston kept up their perfect start to the season with an away win at local rivals West Calder United as they made it three victories from three to kick-start their South Division season.

The visitors were given a massive helping hand at Hermand Park as United were reduced to nine men before the interval.

Ally McRitchie gave Pumpherston an early advantage before Alistair McInnes netted a fine equaliser for Greig Mitchell’s men.

However, the game turned on its head as West Calder saw two quickfire red cards which ensured they had an uphill struggle to get anything out of the game.

Darren Fleming was shown a second yellow card shortly before Keith Paton was dismissed for a last-man foul.

And it didn’t take long for the visitors to make their numerical advantage count on the scoreboard as Darryll Butler fired his team into the lead just before the interval.

And they made sure there were no hiccups as they wrapped up the points with two fine goals against a West Calder side who played well despite their lack of numbers.

McRitchie added his second of the contest before Zander Murray made it 4-1 to Craig Martin’s side.

Jack McGurk fired home a late consolation for the Cauther, but it was the least their efforts deserved.

Pumpherston are away from home at Rosyth this weekend as they look to make it three away wins in a row for the first time in several years.

West Calder also face a trip north as they face Lochgelly Albert hoping to inflict a first defeat of the season on their hosts.
