Rose ease past Lochee
Linlithgow Rose have made it three wins on the bounce after their poor start thanks to victory over newly promoted Lochee United.
The home side made their numerical advantage count as they netted three times in the final 25 minutes to seal the win.
Lochee were reduced to 10 men on the half hour mark when Graham Hay was shown a straight red card for denying a goalscoring opportunity with the prolific Tommy Coyne converting the resulting spot-kick.
The hosts didn’t capitalise on that decision however and it was United who had the better of the exchanges for the remainder of the first half.
Ross Gray hit the woodwork for Linlithgow in the early stages of the second period before Lochee netted an equaliser through Bryan Deasley on 60 minutes.
Stephen McNally’s long ball was pounced on by the former Dundee frontman, who made the most of some static Rose defending to slot the ball past Richie Barnard.
The Bluebell had the upper-hand at that point, but Gray’s stunning strike from the edge of the box just four minutes later turned the game totally into Rose’s favour as the man advantage finally began to show for the home side.
They went on to seal a comfortable three goal victory after Gray’s cross was tapped home by Graham Weir on 82 minutes. Coyne completing the scoring in injury-time.
Davie McGlynn will be looking to make it three wins in a row when they travel to Newtongrange this weekend before beginning their Scottish Cup journey the following week away to Threave Rovers.
