West Lothian Courier

Dream start thrilling everyone

-

It was another stroll in the park for the rampant Lions again at the weekend as we maintained our 100 per cent record at home to sorry Stenhousemuir.

Another four goals, which takes the tally to 13 in just three games this season, is in stark contrast to last year when it took a dozen games to reach that figure.

It’s been the best start to a league campaign for Livi since our 1996/97 campaign and boy are the fans really enjoying it.

The crowd went up by roughly 10 per cent despite the torrential rain and hopefully that’s a sign of things to come.

This youthful, exciting side deserve the backing from the people of West Lothian and the club are trying their best to get the local community on board with the fantastic youth initiative and pricing policies this season, that’s for sure.

Yes, it’s early doors but it’s a great start. Three wins and sitting top of the table, albeit on goal difference, is something that every fan would have settled for after three games.

I’m sure there will be tougher tests ahead but, to use a typical football cliche, we have to take it one game at a time.

This weekend, we go Hampden Park to take on Queen’s Park.

The national stadium is a place that most who follow Livi will have fond memories of, with it being the site of our League Cup triumph. This time around, it’s league business that takes us to the famous stadium.

Newly promoted Queen’s Park will be tough opposition. Just like any Gus McPherson team, they will be well organised and it’ll be down to us to work and fight just as hard as them to take three points back home to West Lothian and set up the prospect of taking on Alloa with both teams sitting on maximum points.

Once again let’s travel along the M8 in good numbers and good voice and cheer this Livi team to victory.
