Sean Carr, Founder of Scotland’s award-winning animal assisted therapy company, Party Animal Encounters, is celebrating after receiving this month’s West Lothian Courier and The Centre Local Hero Award.

Sean said he was overwhelmed and overjoyed, after being presented with the award and a £100 gift card.

He was nominated by various people in the community for the great work he does running one- to- one animal therapy sessions for children and adults with additional support needs, which have an incredible impact on people’s lives.

He has a wide range of animals, including everything from raccoons and meerkats to snakes and a fox, and delivers over 30 one- to- one therapy sessions every month, which help children’s social and life skills, speech and mobility and is also a great confidence booster.

Sean said: “I still can’t believe I’ve won this incredible Award, which is very humbling. It really is a dream come true to be recognised for something I love doing, which brings so much enjoyment to people.

“I am grateful to all my friends and family who have supported me throughout the past two years as I wouldn’t be where I am without them.

“Also to everyone that has booked a party with us or an event because without them we wouldn’t be able to provide the therapy sessions which help so many people.”

Marketing Manager Jennifer Bruce presented Sean with the award and said: “It gives us great pleasure to present Sean, who is a wonderful, caring individual with our prestigious Local Hero Award.

“I think this is the start of even more great things to come for Sean as he continues to dedicate everything he does to bring happiness and joy to people lives through animal assisted therapy.”

The recently launched Local Hero Award was set up to pay tribute to people in the community who have done something special, as a way of saying thank you and by rewarding them with a £100 Gift Card, courtesy of The Centre, Livingston.
