Library and museum move to Strathbrock
Broxburn Library and community museum are set to move to Strathbrock Partnership Centre.
The move will bring key community services under one roof in the town and will see West Lothian Council invest £400,000 in the project. Work on the project started recently and is due to be completed in November. The project is being completed in phases and all services will remain open throughout the project – however work may result in some disruption to services.
The new library and Community Museum will be located at the main entrance area with a number of changes planned to the layout of the existing services at Strathbrock. The CIS space being opened up to create a combined library/ CIS space. Payment facilities will be available over a longer period of time. Library users will also have access to a wider range of additional services including the café.
Executive councillor for culture and leisure, Dave King said:“Some councils are making cuts to their library services - but West Lothian Council is investing in our libraries and community facilities. The service will have a new home which is modern and has the added benefit from the increased footfall at Strathbrock Partnership Centre.”
Karen Cawte, the council’s customer services development manager, said:y“Previous changes have proved successful at Bathgate and Fauldhouse Partnership Centres, which demonstrate the advantages of shared working and have delivered benefits to customers.”
