A house builder is encouraging charities and community groups to apply for a slice of £2000 every month.

Persimmon has already given away more than £18,000 to good causes since the launch of its Community Champions scheme January 2016.

Now the company is inviting applications from more charities and community schemes.

The Community Champions scheme began last year allowing charities and groups to apply for funding up to the value of £1000 to match money they have already raised themselves.

Some of the causes to benefit so far include The School Bank West Lothian (pictured).

The West Lothian community group that aims to help protect children and families from the impact of poverty received £1000 to meet the increasing demand for school uniforms in areas including Craigshill, Whitburn, Blackburn and Fauldhouse.

Jim Kirkpatrick, managing director at Persimmon Homes East Scotland, said:“Two Community Champions are selected each month and we are donating up to £1000 to each. This has gone on to help organisations and groups already and we have had positive feedback as to how they have been helped. I’d encourage charities, community groups and organisations to apply and hopefully they will be the next Persimmon Homes Community Champion.”
