Linlithgow Folk Festival events

The 18th Linlithgow Folk Festival is now in full swing - and events continue this weekend with a packed programme.

At 7.30pm, the acclaimed singersong­writer George Machray will be joined by friends for a concert at the Black Bitch Tavern; at 8pm, there will be a music session at the Linlithgow Tap and at 9pm The Tonkerers will be playing in the Star and Garter Hotel.

The programme continues tomorrow (Friday) at 2pm when there will be a music session at the Star and Garter Hotel.

Evening highlights include a blues night with the band Blue Dubh at Linlithgow Bowling Club at 8pm and a Bluegrass concert with The Daddy Naggins in Queen Margaret Hall at 8pm. There will also be music sessions at the Black Bitch and other premises displaying the “Musicians Welcome” signs.

A full programme of events on Saturday starts with the opening of the Festival Hub at the Masonic Hall at 10am.

The outdoor Nora Devine Stage returns to the cross from 10.30am onwards.

There will be workshops of all kinds with headline band The Outside Track at Cross House and a craft fair in the Kirk Hall.

A ceilidh dance workshop will take place in the Masonic Hall at 11.30am and a signing session will follow at 2pm.

The headline concert with the award-winning young band The Outside Track will take place at Linlithgow Academy Theatre at 7.30pm. Tickets are £15 and can be bought at the door.

The festival will round up on Sunday with another full day of events, including the Bluegrass Gospel Session, songs and music at Linlithgow Bowling Club, the Nora Devine Stage and the Outdoor Ceilidh at the Vennel.
